Bringing Thai Massage to Rhode Island
Want a real Thai Massage? No need to book a flight to Thailand or grab your passport. I'm bringing Thai massage to you.
My name is Kullawan Merola, I am the owner of Thai Tranquility. I was born and raised in a village of north central Thailand where life is simple and relaxed.
Leaving my Thai village
At the age of eighteen I left behind my slow-paced village life to study and work in Bangkok. Gone were the beautiful mountains, water buffalo, and lush green rice fields I knew as a child. They were replaced by towering buildings, throngs of people, and the nightmarish traffic of Bangkok.
Life in Bangkok was a challenge. But, the challenge I faced in 1999, when I moved to America, was greater. There was English to learn, strange foods to eat, and cold winters to endure. Although it was difficult, I acclimated well and was happy with the American way of life. Yet, I felt the need to stay connected to who I was- a Thai.
Reconnecting through Thai massage
In time I reconnected (in a small way) with my Thai heritage as I worked at Thai restaurants. This sparked a desire to share more of my Thai culture with Americans. How could I share the rich history of Thailand with the people around me?, I mused. I knew that Thai massage would be a wonderful expression of my Thai culture, so I returned to Thailand to study the ancient art of Thai massage.
Staying true to Thai Massage
After intense training and certification (in traditional Thai massage) I returned to Rhode Island, eager to share Thai massage with everyone. I knew that I wanted people to experience a true Thai massage, therefore, I made two commitments. My commitments were:
- Stay true to the authentic techniques and principles of Thai massage and refuse to mingle it with Western forms of massage.
- Make Thai massage the only massage I practiced in order to excel in the art and offer the best Thai massage available.
I believe that keeping these two commitments has helped to make Thai Tranquility one of the best places in Rhode Island for Thai massage.
I am proud of my heritage and it is a joy for me to share it by bringing wellness to people through Thai massage.
